Setting up a Firm

There are two types of legal firms:

  1. Incorporated Practices (governed by the Incorporated Practice Rules)
  2. Unincorporated Practices

Incorporated Practices are governed by the Incorporated Practice Rules which state that a new incorporated practice must be approved by the Council of the Law Society.   This completed APPLICATION should be submitted to the Society with the accompanying documents.

The Isle of Man Law Society has produced GUIDANCE on setting up both Incorporated and Unincorporated Practices.
